June 2, 2018, 9am – 12 pm- Valley Eden Bird Sanctuary, 5559 E. Rush Creek Road,Stockton, IL  Call815-858-9100, website, www.jdcf.org.  Jo Daviess Conservation Foundation is opening a 409-acre property near Stockton, IL, with self-guided tours.  Bird experts will be on hand with spotting scopes to answer questions. The Hoo Haven Wildlife Rehabilitation and Education Center will also attend with their American white pelican ambassador,Marshmallow, for a live bird program.

June 9th 2pm to June 10th, 4pm.  25th Annual Historic Cemetery Walk.  Location:  Greenwood Cemetery, Gear Street, and Shadow Bluff Drive, Galena, IL.  Every June the Galena-Jo Daviess County Historical Society honors the lives and contributions of past Galenians.  Local performers portray select individuals buried in Galena's Greenwood Cemetery and recount key episodes of their lives.

June 15 – June 17, Great Galena Balloon Race. Located: Eagle Ridge Resort & Spa, 444 Eagle Ridge Drive, Galena, IL.  Spectacular 3-day event with more than 20 hot air balloons, three races, a night glow extravaganza, a car show, live music,activities for the whole family.

June 30, 7:30pm to July 1, 10:30pm. Shenandoah Pro Rodeo and Fireworks.  Located at Shenandoah Riding Center, 200 N. Brodrecht Rd., Galena, IL. The Three Hills Rodeo Company compete in Bareback Riding, Steer Wrestling,Team Roping, Saddle Bronc Riding, Calf Roping, Ladies Barrel Racing, and Bull Riding.  Stay for the free fireworks immediately following the rodeo.  For a general hillside seating bring a blanket or lawn chair.

July 21 – 10am to 6pm.  The 4th Annual NW IL Art & Jazz Fest. Located at the Stockton Lion’s Memorial Park, 600 N. Pearl Street, Stockton, IL. Visit with regionally and nationally recognized artists and musicians. Wander among the art, join a class, watch a demonstration, listen to live entertainment, sample local wine & beer, and taste the local cuisine.  A wall-sized mural will be painted downtown during the festival.

Join us for open stage performances all day. Breakfast will be served on Sunday at 6:30 - 9:30 am with a 10:15 am worship service to follow.

This is the largest, longest and spookiest parade in the tri-state area, featuring spectacular floats, marching bands, costumed participants, prizes and treats for guys and 'ghouls' of all ages. There are even hot air balloons lighting up the Helluva Half Mile (Galena's historic Main Street) as they make their way along the parade route.

Limited edition T-shirts and 50/50 raffle tickets can be purchased at the Galena Area Chamber of Commerce booth on Washington Street. Food vendors are located on Perry Street and Washington Street starting at 2 p.m.

Don't miss one of the most beautiful and romantic visions of the year. Stroll down the Helluva Half Mile Main Street and watch more than 30 windows come alive with holiday-inspired animation. Check out video from Living Windows on YouTube here and here.

From Main Street to the hills overlooking Grant Park, all of Galena will be glowing. Enter a land of enchantment on this magical night with more than 5,000 candlelit luminaries on streets, steps and sidewalks. Drive, walk, take a trolley or enjoy a carriage ride and be amazed at the sight.

Local businesses offer extended hours so take advantage and do some holiday shopping on the Hellavu Half Mile then warm up with a candlelit dinner at one of the restaurants.

Galena's downtown Fourth of July celebration, which is organized by the Kiwanis Club of Galena will kick off with live music. 

The annual community parade begins at 6 pm, featuring local businesses, floats, bands, marchers and fireworks.

Following the parade, enjoy the live entertainment and food and beverages by the GOATS cycling club in the Green Street Plaza until the fireworks begin. The fireworks will launch from Grant Park at dusk. With free admission and a full day of fun.
